Panera Broccoli Cheddar Soup

The other day I was feeling a bit under the weather and all I wanted was some warm comfort food. Normally my lazy self would just go buy some soup but no, I wanted to prove my domesticity for some odd reason. So, enter the "Copt Cat Panera Broccoli Cheese Soup Recipe from Budget Savy Diva".

I'm one of those people who actually goes to their Pinterest board and makes the recipes. (Shameless link to my Pinterest board, here it's called "Good Eats" for a reason. Plenty of the recipes I've tried on Pinterest have turned out nothing like the pictures, descriptions, or real thing in the case of copy cat recipes. However, this recipe is different story.

This soup was so much like the real soup at Panera. Granted, when you're consuming 8 oz. of cheddar cheese, 2 cups of half & half, and a stick of butter it's going to taste good. I skipped the nutmeg, couldn't find any in the cupboard, but I doubt that made much of a difference. Also, I put the soup in my blender as the final step, and I regret doing so. Next time I'm going to chop the broccoli florets into smaller bits before tossing them in, and then leave the soup to its chunky integrity instead of blending it into a mush. Even though my soup's texture more resembled pureed cauliflower, the taste was spot on. Leaving the broccoli in chunks would assuredly make this recipe perfection.

I'm not going to post the whole recipe seeing as it's not my own, but honestly if you took the time to read this entire post you have enough time to make this soup. Trust me, it's worth it.

Winter Whites

The title of this post might be a little misleading. Although I am a proponent of wearing white (and yes, even white bottoms, throwing the "no white after labor day" rule to the way side) this post isn't about wearing white in the winter.
I recently found these amazing pictures by Gray Malin and I just had to share them. (You've probably seen his pictures of Prada in Marfa.) These pictures of skiers  in Aspen are exhibit exactly why I love trips to the mountains during the colder months. He also has awesome pictures of the beach and other locations from the same aerial perspective. In order to take the pictures, he hangs out of a doorless helicopter. If that's not badass photography I don't know what is. Be sure to check his work out!

One Day

If I could buy this dress, I would know I've made it.

Although I think having an occasion to wear such a dress would also indicate having "made it".

Emma Stone

Emmas Stone is one of my favorite, if not my very favorite, actress as of lately. Aside from the fact that she's gorgeous, I love how she dresses in a classic and respectable way but with her own edgy twists. The real reason why I think she is so great is because of her quirky yet tough girl attitude.

P.L.T.

Yes, I’m talking Michael Jackson P.L.T, “Pretty Little Thing”. These are the things that can instantly bring my mood up, and make any outfit seem slightly lux. What do you reach for when you need a pick me up?

Speaking of PLT’s, I’ve just discovered this treasure of a site. If your looking for pretty little under things this is the place!

Books by the Half Dozen

No more pencils, no more books, no more teacher’s dirty looks.

I’m officially done with undergrad! However, I do still plan on reading many books. The difference is that which books will be my choice. This excites me to no end. I haven’t had the chance to read a book for leisure in the longest time. Here’s a list of some books I’m looking forward to turning the pages of in the very near future.

1. The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling
2. Bossy Pants by Tina Fey
3. Grace: A Memoir by Grace Coddington
4. Where We Belong by Emily Giffin
5. The Things that Matter by Nate Berkus
6. Seriously... I’m Kidding by Ellen Degeneres

Nothing beats having a printed book in my hands to read, but it’s also so nice to be able to have it easily accessible on my iPad. Books #3 and #5 will be ones that I buy in their true form (they are stocked full of great pictures), but I always struggle to decide the form I should purchase a book. Are you a die hard print or e-book buyer? Are there any must-reads that I should add to this list?

Simple Skirt

I don't own any skirts other than one floral printed pencil skirt (co J.Crew) and one jersey maxi skirt. I never seem to find skirts I like enough to buy, or have ideas for outfits I would wear that include skirts. One of my goals this late winter or spring is to get a skirt and where it as an everyday piece. I love Candice Swanepole's simple skirt outfit, and it's so easy even I'm tempted to buy a skirt now. Does anyone else struggle to find skirts, and skirt outfits, they like?
